Description
: This is a multi-agency group behind the York private sector housing strategy. The strategy aims to improve the physical condition and management of the city's private sector housing stock. Private sector housing represents 83% of all homes in York. The group meets twice a year to review progress and to agree any changes to the strategic aims and objectives. Current objectives include: 1. Encourage and support owners to maintain and repair their homes to a good standard. 2. Encourage private landlords to provide good quality well managed properties 3. Help people stay within their own homes (for example through adaptation). 4. Maximise use of private sector homes. 5. Ensure homes contribute to carbon reduction targets through imporved energy efficiency and use of renewable energy. 6. Improve partnership working,especially with health sector. Access to decent, safe and affordable housing is key to people's health and well-being.Sector
